The project explores joint family culture in the emerging urban scenario. The site is 4000sft bound by roads along the north and the western edges.it exhibited  a steep drop of around 2m from north east to the south west. The client had built a three bedroom house in the early eighties which negotiated this slope effectively. The brief was to refurbish this existing house and also  add a three bedroom house for his sons family at the upper level. The design for the stacked house examines as to how two families can come together while maintaining their individual identities. Architecturally the idea also explores the relationship between built an unbuilt spaces in a multilevel and multi dwelling organization.
